Never Be Afraid to Try New Restaurants and Cuisines

About Me

Never Be Afraid to Try New Restaurants and Cuisines

When I was growing up, my mother meat and potatoes for dinner each night. Once a week, we would order pizza from the same pizza place. I never even tried Mexican food until I was 18 years old! I loved it and that led me on a quest to try all of the different types of cuisines out there and I have to say that I love almost all of them. When trying a new cuisine, I don't always love the first dish I try, but I find that after trying a few dishes, I find one that I fall in love with. I think that trying new food frequently can be a great adventure that adds some zest to your life. I plan to post about many foods I have tried and plan to try on my blog, so come back soon!

Sharing Dishes To Consider At A Seafood Restaurant

When you visit a waterfront seafood restaurant, it won't take you long to check out the menu and decide what you want to eat. Before you give your order to the server, however, it can be fun to consider ordering a dish that you can share with your dining partners. Doing so is a good way to partially satisfy your appetites before your main courses arrive, as well as get a chance to sample different types of seafood. Seafood eateries often have a number of good sharing dishes to enjoy as appetizers, including the following options.

Mussels

While a lot of people enjoy ordering mussels as a main course, another option is to order a serving of mussels to share with your table. This fare won't fill you up to the point that it's difficult to finish your main course, but it can provide a good source of protein if everyone is hungry when they arrive at the restaurant. Mussels have different broth choices, so you can take a quick survey of your table and decide what broth everyone will best enjoy. You'll often receive fresh rolls or bread with your serving of mussels, which some people will enjoy soaking in the broth.

Fried Basket

If everyone at your table enjoys fried food, it makes sense to start your meal by sharing a fried seafood basket. This option can be especially enticing if you're having a lighter main course, as a fried appetizer and a fried main course might be too heavy for you. Fried seafood baskets typically contain a number of different seafood options for people to enjoy. There may be fried shrimp, scallops, clam strips, and even pieces of fish. Each basket will come with one or more servings of dip, which can augment the flavor of each of the bites.

Oysters

A lot of people enjoy starting their seafood meal by sharing a plate of oysters with their dining partners. Seafood restaurants often have fresh oysters from numerous locations around the country, and it can be fun to learn a little about each variety and then order a selection. You'll have a variety of sauces and toppings that you can use for some of your oysters, while perhaps enjoying others on their own to get a better sense of their delicate flavor.

Enjoy one or more of these dishes while you wait for your main courses to arrive. For more information, reach out to a waterfront seafood restaurant near you.
